About US

Around 2000, following the development of the events in the region, the Al Farah choir felt the need of highlighting the interfaith dialogue as a point of power in the Syrian society where all Christians and Muslims and even Jews – lived in brotherhood and peace for ages.

And to help our mission to become alive, we worked first with our choir members to build in their hearts a real understanding for the meaning of co living and brotherhood, and for many occasions, father Elias Zehlawi was on TV and Radio to talk about the urge of the interfaith dialog and most over to pass on the message that people should deal with the different religions in one country as an everlasting source for the rich cultural maturity, not a reason for disagreement or contradiction.          >>>>

 

 
And as an artistic reflection of our vision the choir started a new line of chanting- in parallel with its own services – hymns that glory the one God that we all believe in and that makes all of us brothers and sisters.

In 2001 the al Farah choir launched, along with the Bani Omayyad mosque chanters union (Hamzeh Shakkour), recitals for different occasions to emphasize this message and to express the respect and the acceptance that both sides hold for each other.

And as al Farah choir children, and according to the goal of the Kennedy Center Festival –Art of Arab world –Arabesque We dedicated the first part of the program about 11minutes for this message - four hymns ( Assyrian, Byzantine, Muslim, Latin, ) and end up with a song that ask people to love each other that says ( ya nas houbou al nass ) that include the ( allah ou akbar with antom alazin bil masih a'tamatom).

It's a simple and important message of living in peace with each other through reaching out to the hearts of people around the world with music and song.
